The Melas Angelfish, Centropyge tibicen, also known as the Tibicen Angelfish, or the Keyhole Angelfish, is a small black angel with a white vertical line resembling a keyhole with the lower fins being yellow. They are a member of the pygmy angel group. The Melas Angelfish prefers to have nooks and crannies in the tank for it to hide in, so it is recommended to have plentiful amounts of live rock. They will nip on corals and sessile invertebrates and should not be housed with other Angelfish. The Melas Angel shows no sexual dimorphisms as the males and females are identical. The Melas Angelfish can actually be a worker for your tank as well as they eat undesirable filamentous algae and diatoms clinging to live rock.
