White's Seahorse, also known as Hippocampus whitei, is a small and
distinctive seahorse species commonly found in the coastal waters of
eastern Australia, including the Sydney area. This unique species was
named after John White, who was a surgeon general and naturalist who
accompanied the First Fleet to Australia in 1788. White's Seahorse is
known for its spiny body, curved tail, and distinctive snout, which it
uses to suck in prey such as small crustaceans and planktonic copepods. Growing up to 6 inches they require a low flow aquarium without any stinging corals that's at least 30 gallons. They can be somewhat sensitive to their environment so low nitrates and peaceful inhabitants are recommenced for optimal health. They do best housed with slow eating tank mates otherwise they can be out-competed for food. Feed them 2-3 times a day a diet consisting of brine, mysis, articpods, and other meaty frozen foods.
