The Sunburst Anthias, Serranocirrhitus latus, also known as the Fathead Anthias or the Hawkfish Anthias exhibits a beautiful blend of purple, pink, and yellow throughout its body, with attractive bright yellow lines around the face of the Sunburst Anthias. Like many Anthias species, the Sunburst Anthias is hermaphroditic. They are best kept in groups of one male and several females. If the dominant male dies, the next largest female will often assume leadership of the group. The Sunburst Anthias can grow to a maximum of 5 inches so they are best kept in tanks of at least 70 gallons id kept individually, and no less than 130 gallons if kept in a group, with plenty of live rockwork. The Sunburst Anthias takes a carnivorous diet consisting of a varied diet including frozen mysis shrimp, enriched frozen brine shrimp, copepods, amphipods and a steady supply of nutritious live food sure to keep this active planktivore content. They are also best kept with other peaceful species, like Clownfish, Chromis, Cardinals and Gobies. They will thrive in temperatures of 72-78° F and a pH of 8.1-8.4.
