The Amethyst Anthias (Pseudanthias pascalus) can be found schooling with other species of anthias, such as the Purple Queen Anthias (P. tuka) in coral reefs and drop offs in the pacific ocean. They are most common around islands with high nutrients output, where crustaceans and krill can be found in plentiful numbers. Males can have long forked caudal fins with a pointed snout and speckled dorsal fins, while females will be a glossy purple with an orange tip on the caudal fin. As is true for many anthias, only one male should be kept in a tank. They should have plenty of room to swim and they should be fed a carnivorous blend of food frequently.
