Care Facts

Care Level: Moderate
Temperament: Semi-Aggressive
Diet: Carnivore
Reef Safe: Yes
Minimum Tank Size: 10 gallons
Max Size: 3 inches
The Swalesi Basslet, Liopropoma swalesi, has alternating horizontal stripes of purple and orange and one black dot on both top and bottom fins. Like other Basslets they should not be housed with another Basslets to avoid aggression, but can be kept safely and peacefully in a reef tank with other tank mates. They are very hardy making them easy to acclimate and care for.

Corals are safe from this Basslet, though they will consume small invertebrates such as amphipods , isopods and copepods and ornamental shrimp. Diet should include a variety of live or frozen mysis shrimp and vitamin enriched brine shrimp as well as chopped meaty foods like clam, krill, shrimp and squid 1-2 times daily.

Not the easiest to acclimate-very delicate at first, but once established, an absolutely fantastic community&reef fish. The only downside is that they spend much time hiding, although you should still see them here, especially during feeding, ESPECIALLY if feeding when lights go down/off
