The Southern demoiselle (Chrysiptera notialis), also known as the Southern Damselfish, is an omnivorous fish endemic to the Coral Sea. They frequent rocky outcroppings, reefs and lagoons. They reach a maximum size of 5 inches and their coloration may vary from a brownish gray to a deep blue. Adults typically protect nests and breeding grounds, while juveniles hide among the rocks and coral. They may be territorial towards tankmates, so they should be kept with fish of similar temperament.
