The Ring-Tail Cardinalfish (Ostorhinchus aureus), also known as the Band-Tail Cardinalfish, occur among reefs of the Indo-Pacific. They have a golden-yellow body which fades into a white, just before a solid black band at the base of their caudal fin. They can be found in reefs or rocky outcroppings where they seek shelter from predators, as well as scavenging for small crustaceans. They grow to a maximum size of 4 inches and should be kept with fish of similar size and temperament. Their diet consists of invertebrates and crustaceans, such as krill or mysis.
