The Red Banded Hawkfish, Cirrhitops fasciatus, goes by a number of common names including the Hawaiian Hawkfish, Red Barred Hawkfish, Redbar Hawk, Ringed Hawkfish, and Redbarred Hawkfish. It has a white body with thick red vertical stripes across.
They are an aggressive species that may nip on small fishes or sessile inverts. Most often, they will not bother with corals. The Red Banded Hawkfish is best kept in tanks of at least 75 gallons with plenty of live rock hiding places. They will feed on a varied carnivorous diet.
