The Razor Surgeonfish (Prionurus laticlavius) frequents seaward reefs in the Eastern Pacific Ocean. They have a grey body with black stripes or spots with a yellow caudal fin. They travel in large schools and scavenge reefs for seaweed or algae, as well as occasional small invertebrates. In a home aquarium, they require significant room to swim, as well as a primarily herbivorous diet with occasional crustaceans. They should be kept singly or in a bonded pair, and should not be kept in an aquarium with less than 250 gallons, due to them reaching a max size of 24 inches. They may be semi-aggressive towards other tangs with a similar body shape, such as sailfin tangs.
