The Melas Angelfish, Centropyge tibicen, also known as the Tibicen Angelfish, or the Keyhole Angelfish, is a small black angel with a white vertical line resembling a keyhole with the lower fins being yellow. They are a member of the pygmy angel group. The Melas Angelfish prefers to have nooks and crannies in the tank for it to hide in, so it is recommended to have plentiful amounts of live rock. They will nip on corals and sessile invertebrates and should not be housed with other species of Angelfish. The Melas Angel shows no sexual dimorphisms as the males and females are identical. Since they are all born female, they can be paired according to size. The Melas Angelfish should be kept in no smaller than a 60 gallon for one, and no less 100 gallons if housing 2. The Melas Angelfish can actually be a worker for your tank as well as they eat undesirable filamentous algae and diatoms clinging to live rock. It should be kept on a diet of Spirulina algae and sponge material included, as well as soem meaty foods, and high quality flake food. But will primarily feed on algae.

This fish thrives in temperatures between 72.0 to 82.0° F and a pH of 8.1-8.4.
