The Black Butterflyfish (Chaetodon flavirostris), also known as the Dusky Butterfly, can be found among the reefs of the Coral Sea, off of the coast of Australia. They have a black or grey body which is encircled by gold and orange markings, and also have an orange streak across their face. They typically feed on crustaceans or mollusks, but do enjoy occasional seaweed or algae. They should be kept in a Fish-Only system with at least 100 gallons and plenty of space to swim, as well as live rock. They should be fed a diet of mysis or krill, along with occasional Nori seaweed, and should be kept with fish of similar size and temperament. They may nip at coral polyps, so they are not recommended for reef aquariums.
