The Black and Gold Chromis (Neoglyphidodon nigroris), also known as the Bicolor Blackmouth Chromis, Blackmouth Chromis, Blackmouth Damselfish, or Behn's Damselfish, originates from the Indo-Pacific region, typically inhabiting reef environments and coastal areas with branching corals. As juveniles, they exhibit a peaceful temperament, but can become aggressive or territorial as adults, making them suitable for novice aquarists in tanks of at least 30 gallons with ample hiding places. Reef safe and omnivorous, they sport a yellow body with two horizontal black bars, which may darken as they mature. With a lifespan of 5 to 7 years and a size ranging from 2.5 to 3 inches, they thrive in temperatures of 72-78°F and pH of 8.1-8.4, while being compatible with tank mates like Yellow Tangs, Firefish Gobies, Banggai Cardinalfish, Cleaner Shrimp, and various coral species, provided proper care and observation are ensured. Purchasing from reputable suppliers like Saltwaterfish.com guarantees the ethical acquisition of these vibrant additions to marine aquariums.
Compatible Tank Mates Include: Yellow Tang (Zebrasoma flavescens), Firefish Goby (Nemateleotris spp.), Banggai Cardinalfish (Pterapogon kauderni), Cleaner Shrimp (Lysmata amboinensis), and Other Coral Species

An awesome little beautiful Black and Gold Chromis who peacefully explores my large reef tank's caves. Almost always visible and active.
