The Wide-Barred Shrimp Goby (Amblyeleotris latifasciata) is a small, slender goby found throughout the Indo-Pacific Ocean. They can have an olive-green body with red stripes and light blue speckles. Shrimp Gobies are known for their symbiotic relationship with pistol shrimp of the alpheid family, which makes them a favorite among the marine life industry. They prefer deep sand beds that allow them to burrow and hide from predators. They may be kept singly or in a bonded pair, though two males may fight over territory. They reach a maximum size of 5 inches and should be kept in an aquarium of at least 30 gallons.
