The Whitetail Damselfish (Pomacentrus chrysurus) can be found among shallow reef and lagoons in the western Indo-Pacific. They have an orange dorsal section which fades into a dark blue midsection and a spot on their dorsal fin. They are frequently found in shallow rocky outcroppings where they feed on small crustaceans and algae. They may be aggressive if kept singly, so it is recommended to be kept in pairs. If parameters and conditions are right, they may attempt to reproduce in home aquaria. Males will create nests in the sand for the female to lay the eggs, and both will become noticeably more territorial towards other fish. They should be kept in a tank with at least 20 gallons and should be fed a variety of meaty and seaweed based foods.
