The Flame Hawkfish, Neocirrhitus armatus, is also popularly known as the Brilliant Red Hawkfish. It has beautiful bright red slender body with a black dorsal fin. As the Flame Hawkfish grows, the dorsal fin grows longer and also transforms its shape.
The Flame Hawkfish will often be found hidden among the branches of live corals and typically retreat itself deep in the same when frightened. The Flame Hawkfish should be kept in a tank  with plenty of space and rock work to perch on and hop around on, thus keeping live rocks are beneficial.
The Flame Hawkfish is hardy and can tolerate changes in the parameters, therefore makes a very good addition to any reef tank. It may become aggressive towards other smaller community fish and will likely attack any invertebrates such as smaller ornamental Shrimp. Caution is advised if adding to a tank with smaller, bottom dwelling species like Gobies and Blennies, as it spends most of its time near the bottom. But otherwise will act peaceful towards other peaceful reef fish.
It is suggested to provide the Flame Hawkfish with constant moving and well oxygenated water in the reef aquarium. It may lose its vibrant red color in the if not provided with proper nutrition as well.

Pretty fish with a lot of character. The flame hawkfish arrived healthy and readily accepts frozen & flake food. Saltwaterfish.com did an awesome job of packing and sending healthy fish in my recent order.
