The Blue-and-Yellow Grouper (Epinephelus flavocaeruleus), also known as the Coral Cod, can be found off the coast of Africa and Eastern Asia. They have a solid blue body with vibrant yellow fins. Juveniles hide among the coral of shallow reefs, while adults inhabit deeper waters. They feed on a variety of foods, including krill, crabs, shrimp and smaller fish. Reaching a size of 36 inches, they require a very large enclosure with plenty of food and room to swim. They should be kept with large display fish of similar temperament and size to prevent aggression and potential predation. While groupers will not bother corals, they will feed on clean-up crews and other crustaceans, so they do best in fish only systems.
