The Africanus Angelfish (Holacanthus africanus), also known as the West African or Guinean Angelfish, can be found among the reefs of West Africa. Juveniles have a bright blue body with yellow fins and a light blue stripe at the center of their body; while adults have a golden-yellow with hints of brown or black. They reach a maximum size of 18 inches, and should not be kept in a tank with less than 150 gallons. Tankmates should be other large, semi-aggressive fish, and they are not recommended for reef aquariums. Their diet should consist of carnivorous preparations, as well as nori seaweed and occasional mollusks.
