The Sunset Butterfly (Chaetodon pelewensis) is a beautiful fish found among the reefs of the South Pacific Ocean. They have golden-silver bodies with diagonal stripes, a streak across their eye, and a vibrant orange section at the peduncle of their caudal fin. They feed on a variety of organisms, including sponges, algae, copepods, amphipods, and other small crustaceans. They are not recommended for reef aquariums, as they have been known to nip at corals polyps. They reach a maximum size of 5 inches and should be kept in a peaceful Fish-Only system of at least 70 gallons. They should not be housed with larger, aggressive fish, such as triggers. They can be kept in pairs, though it is recommended to be kept singly, and not with butterflies of similar patterns/colors.
