The Stocky Anthias (Pseudanthias hypselosoma) also known as the Stocky Pink Anthias has a less thin, streamline body than most anthias. They can be pink, orange or red in coloration, with increased coloration on the dorsal and caudal fins. Females can have traces of purple along the dorsal side, while males have longer fins. Two males can fight over females, so it is recommended to keep one male with a group of females, called a harem. These fish can be found in mid to deepwater reefs off the coast of New Caledonia and Fiji and eat a variety of crustaceans.
