The Decorator Arrow Crab, Stenorhynchus sp.,is named because of its head and body which looks like an arrow, and its habit of camouflaging itself by picking up little pieces of rock, sand, and algae and sticking it to its body. It has notable long legs and the males are larger than the females. It is known to feed on bristle worms as well as small pest feather dusters. Breeding this species is quite difficult in captivity. The Arrow Crab can grow up to six inches and therefore we recommend you to keep it in a larger aquarium of at least 20 gallons. It inhabits small caves or crevices, so lots of rock work will make it more at home in your tank. The Arrow Crab is hardy, long lived invertebrate that can be housed in the reef tank, but it should be kept singly and should not be kept with similar species unless in a larger tank since it may be territorial with other large crabs/shrimps. They feed on a variety of foods as they are bottom feeders and will consume any leftover food particulates including pieces of shrimp, algae, pellets, or flakes.
