The Clown Gobies come in a variety of colors of yellow and green with orange stripes. The reef safe green clown goby appreciates the presence of established Acropora colonies as it will commonly feed from them and use their dense branches for shelter. The Clown Goby in green especially is very peaceful and gets along well with other tank inhabitants. The Clown Goby is also known as Earspot Coral Goby and is commonly found near hard coral colonies.Important points to look after in Gobiodon histrioThe Clown Goby doesn?t swim around but instead looks for a hiding spot where it can perch, graze and take refuge, therefore it is advised to keep a few live rocks, sand bed and caves in the home aquarium to give it a realistic environment. The Clown Goby can become aggressive towards other clown gobies, but some will pair up. It should not be housed with other similar kind of fishes until it is a big 100+ gallon aquarium. Also, they thrive best when present singly, especially in a smaller tank of at least 20 Gallons. The Clown Goby has a life span of about 3 years and is a very hardy fish to keep in an enclosed system. It has the ability to defend itself by secreting toxic mucus over its body. The saltwater Clown Goby can be fed with amphipods, copepods as well as other zooplankton in addition to a variety of live, frozen, and freeze-dried fish foods. It should be fed once or twice a day.
Really cool fish. Hangs out with my acropora all day. Coloration is amazing.
Cons: It still hasn't taken to my food and its been over two months. I don't know how it's surviving. Other people have had better luck with this fish.
Was shocked to see such a tiny creature, not even an inch long! It's been a week and he's hanging in there, literally, on the filter, the rock or anywhere else! Hard to find at times he's so small but is a cutie!
