The adult Black Angelfish, Pomacanthus arcuatus, is also commonly called as the Gray Angelfish. It has a gray body with dusky blue polka-dots and the same dusky blue highlights on the caudal, dorsal, and anal fins. Like many other large Angelfish they will display a different color pattern from the juvenile stage to the adult stage. They should also be kept singly, and not housed with other Angelfish.

The Black Angelfish is not reef safe, as it may be found nipping at stony or soft corals, along with clam mantles, and smaller sessile invertebrates. Diet should include a variety of veggie and meaty preparations including spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, and mysis and brine shrimp, 3 times daily.
