The Australian Stripey (Microcanthus joyceae) is a peaceful, schooling fish found among the reefs of Hawaii, Australia and China. They have a golden/silver body with contrasting, black horizontal stripes. They are peaceful and active, preferring to be in large schools. They are not recommended for reef aquariums and should be kept in peaceful, large, fish only systems. They are omnivorous, eating a variety of seaweed, invertebrates and meaty preparations. A tank of at least 120 gallons is recommended for M. joyceae, which reaches a maximum size of 6 inches.
