The Scorpion Fish, Scopraenopsis sp., often pack a bit of a punch with their stinging mechanism. Often containing many poisonous spines, Scorpion Fish are bottom dwellers that feed on small crustaceans while sometimes relying on camouflage to ambush their prey. While Scorpion Fish can indeed be venomous, many species are suitable for the home aquarium. Aquarists much take precautions while transporting to be sure not to touch the spines. They also should be housed with larger tank mates that they are unlikely to bully around.
