The Ruby Flame Cardinal (Fowleria flammea) shares a striking resemblance to the Red Stop Light Cardinal, Apogonichthys hyalinus. They have a solid red body with large eyes. They are nocturnal predators that feed on small crustaceans or fish and typically can be found around rocks or reefs seeking shelter from larger fish. They do well in peaceful aquariums and can be kept in small schools. They should be fed a carnivorous diet regularly, typically consisting of mysis shrimp or krill. Their red coloration helps prevent detection from predators at night.
