The Red Margin Fairy, Cirrhilabrus Rubromarginalis, is a beautiful wrasse that is endemic to the waters of southern Japan and Indonesia. Usually seen in pairs, it is known to exhibit a very eye-catching coloration with red margins on both its tail and dorsal fin. A male Red Margin Fairy is known to exhibit better color intensity as compared to a female or juvenile. However, the male wrasses tend to look duller as compared to their female counterparts during courtship. The Red Margin Fairy Wrasse has no special requirements to keep it in captivity. Once acclimated, they are quite hardy, but may not come out from hiding places in the beginning. This Wrasse is reef safe, as it does not harm any polyp of stony or soft corals or invertebrates, it is an excellent tank mate for reef aquariums. It can do well kept together with larger non-aggressive species. A group of several individuals of the fairy wrasses might also be kept successfully, but they would fight at first. The Red Margin Fairy Wrasse can easily bring activity to 90-gallon aquarium, but should be kept in a larger tank if keeping a group. Since these Red Margin Fairy Wrasses are real Jumpers and tend to jump out of open spaces, they should be kept in a canopy-fitted aquarium only. These jumping wrasses can live in a water temperature between 75- 84° F. They can be fed anything from vitamin-enriched frozen Mysis shrimps, to frozen brine shrimps, to marine food pellets.
