Purple Tang - Captive Bred
The captive bred Purple Tang (Zebrasoma xanthurum), also known as the Purple Sailfin Tang or Yellowtail Sailfin Tang, thrives in environments with hiding spots and ample swimming space. Generally reef-safe, it may graze on algae but requires secure anchoring for corals. With a maximum size of 10 inches and a lifespan of 7-10 years, it needs a tank of at least 120 gallons. Proper water conditions are crucial for their health and longevity. Maintain a pH level between 8.1 and 8.4, a salinity level of 1.020-1.025, and a stable temperature between 74-80°F (23-27°C). A well-functioning protein skimmer and adequate water flow are recommended to maintain water quality. Its diet consists of marine algae sheets, pellets, and occasional live or frozen foods. This Tang is a stunner! Worth the price in my opinion. Introduced it into the tank with a new Blue Hippo Tang of similar size and they get along great. Would definitely purchase again.
