Emperor Angelfish: Juvenile

Pomacanthus imperator

(0 Reviews)

The Emperor Angelfish, Pomacanthus imperator, also known as the Imperator Angelfish has a blue body covered with bright yellow horizontal stripes, a black mask outlined in vibrant blue lines and a yellow tail. Like many large Angelfish their appearance will change dramatically from the juvenile to adult stage. Due to aggression towards other Angelfish they are best kept singly but will do well with other larger fish.

They are not reef safe, as they will nip at soft and stony polyp corals, sessile invertebrates and clam mantles. Diet should include a variety of spirulina, marine algae, high quality angelfish preparations, mysis and brine shrimp, 3 times daily.

Once the Emperor Angelfish reaches about six inches, it will usually reach its final coloration form.

The Emperor Angelfish was shipped extremely well, and it was a perfect addition to my reef tank. I acclimated according to the instructions, and I have had no problems with any of the fish I have received. What more can you ask for? Cheaper then my local fish store and it was delivered to my front door the next day.

Beautiful angelfish. I purchased the large juvenile and it arrived healthy and readily accepts frozen & flake food.

My first Emperor Angelfish is beautifully patterned and healthy. I feed it a combination of live red tree sponges, prime reef flakes, and dried green seaweed; in addition to these foods it scours my aquarium for all algae. I highly recommend it, especially since it's gotten over being shy.
