The Flying Fish, Dactylopterus volitans, also known as the Flying Gurnard are a rather unique fish to be kept in a home aquarium. Native to the Atlantic Ocean, this fish is famous for its ability to walk on the ocean floor with its specialized pectoral fins. These are different from the species of fish that have the ability to self-propel out of the water. The Flying Gurnard has a different type of 'wings'. 

The Flying Gurnard requires a large fish-only tank  to support its 6 inch long wingspan. They are really amazing to watch in tanks such as these and will be one of the most unique fishes you will see for the home aquarium.
