In this genus, the males are larger than females. The Flame Angelfish are born females and as they grow in a group, larger and dominant fishes become males and remaining become females. If a male dies, the next dominant female in the hierarchy becomes a male. It is best way to get a pair by introducing a smaller and a larger fish in a tank together. The Flame Angelfish are very hard to catch and are very much found in scattered localities of tropical waters across the western Pacific Ocean from Belau to the Hawaiian, Marquesas, and Marshall Islands. The Flame Angelfish is omnivorous in nature. Offer various types of fresh and dried marine algae, spirulina enriched foods, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp and other high-quality meaty foods, angelfish preparations, and flakes or pellets designed for algae eating fish. It thrives at a temperature 72.0 - 82.0?? F and a pH of 8.1-8.4.
