The Erectus Seahorse, Hippocampus erectus, also known as the Lined Seahorse or the Northern Seahorse is a captive bred species of seahorse. The Erecturs Seahorse have lined patterns throughout their bodies, with or without saddle marking. Colors typically range from black, brown, green, grey, yellow, orange, and red. Colors are not fixed and may change based on the Erectus Seahorse's surroundings, diet, stress level, or mood. They are some of the most hardy seahorses available in the aquarium trade. The Erectus Seahorse can be paired as a male and female and can be mated in a tank. A pair should be kept in a tank of at least 30 gallons. These seahorses may or may not have cerri, or elongated skin extensions. In the tank, the Erectus Seahorse should have plenty of structures or things for it to grab onto with their tails. They can reach a maximum size of 7 inches with males being larger than females. The Erectus Seahorse prefers live or frozen mysis or brine shrimp Overall, the Erectus Seahorse is one of the fascinating aquarium species, they are hardy, active and fun, unique, and captive bred meaning they are used to the tank environment.

Note: From our facility, to you, these seahorses will likely be closer to black in color. Based on their surroundings in your aquarium, they can lightened up. They are unsexed.

Got one of these when they went on sale on Black Friday and it’s still doing great! Really impressed with he durability of this little guy- we’ve had power outages that caused crazy temperatures, raging algae outbreaks, etc and he’s still kicking! Really worth the cost of shipping instead of getting one of questionable origins from my local fish store.

Excellent quality, they began eating as soon as they were received and acclimated, still doing very nicely. I am very happy with them and they seem to be very happy here with me.
