Derasa Clam: Striped w/ Blue Rim - Aquacultured

Tridacna derasa

(4 Reviews)

The Derasa Clam (Tridacna derasa) is a beautiful addition to any reef tank - They have varying colors and designs, some being gold and blue, while others are green or orange. They can reach size of 24 inches in the wild, though this is uncommon in the home aquarium. They require plenty of nutrients in the water column and high lighting; if kept in nutrient-poor waters, supplemental feeding may be necessary. They should only be kept with reef safe fish in established aquariums.

Beautiful addition to a tank. with proper acclimation, it easily adapts. it will move itself about the tank until it finds a location it likes. make sure tank mates don't like clams as part of their diet, or you might simply buy a very expensive meal for a crab or fish...

The coloration was nice and it was larger than I was expecting. Far larger than the Maximas they offer. I placed my in the substrate of my 120 gallon. Its been two months and its been doing great.
