The Christmas Tree Coral, Studeriotes sp., also known as the Medusa Coral or Snake Locks Coral, spends its live hitched within the soft sandy or rubble substrate and prefers tanks with plenty of live rock. It has snake like tentacles that also resemble a pine tree. The Christmas Tree Coral requires moderate to high waterflow, low to moderate light, and should be target fed a carnivorous diet as it is non-photosynthetic. It is best housed with plenty of open space and not near other corals. Due to its difficult feeding habits, the Christmas Tree Coral should only be cared for by an experienced aquarist. If able to be cared for, the Christmas Tree Coral will undoubtedly be one of the most unique and beautiful pieces in your tank.
