Although it is peaceful towards most tank mates, the Blue Hippo Tang Yellow Belly demonstrates aggressive behavior towards other fish of its own species. If you wish to keep a group in to the tank, make sure to introduce them all in once. The Blue Hippo Tang Yellow Belly should be offered plenty of marine-based algae or seaweed that helps in strengthening immune system, reduce aggression and improve their overall health. It is more susceptible to lateral line disease, fin erosion, ich and other skin parasites than many other fish.  When frightened, the yellow belly blue hippo tang, particularly juveniles, hide behind live rocks or within branching corals.
