The Shameface Crab (Calappa sp.), also known as the Shame Boxer Crab, can be found among sandy lagoons in the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea. They typically have a white or tan body with red or brown spots. They have broad bodies and frontal claws that cover the majority of their face and mouth. They are very sessile, sometimes going days without moving. They feed on a variety of invertebrates, including smaller crustaceans and mollusks. They are ambush predators, waiting for prey to approach them. They require a find-medium grade substrate to burrow in and should be fed a variety of carnivorous preparations.
