Ringed Wrasse Care Facts

Care Level: Moderate
Temperament: Semi Aggressive
Diet: Carnivore
Reef Safe: No
Minimum Tank Size: 180 Gallons
Max Size: 14 inches
The Ringed Wrasse (Hologymnosus annulatus) is a large species of wrasse that is not commonly seen in the saltwater hobby. Juveniles will have a stark black body with a long white streak running down the length of their body. Adults will have a blue green body with blue vertical stripes going along their body. Growing up to 14 inches in length these fish require a fish only setup as they will hunt inverts and nip at corals and a tank of at least 180 gallons. They should be kept in a tank with plenty of live rock for hiding places, a sandy substrate, and tightly sealed lid to prevent escapes. Feed them a meaty diet consisting of shrimp, krill, clams, and other saltwater foods.
