The Clearfin Squirrel fish is a species Native to the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean regions, from East Africa to New Caledonia, this enchanting fish thrives around islands and shallow reefs, often found in the company of Acropora corals. With a depth range of 3 to 20 meters, these fish can grow up to 10 inches in length, primarily feasting on benthic invertebrates. They are reef safe with caution as they will feed on invertebrates and small fish that can fit in their mouth. They require a minimum tank size of 100 gallons with plenty of filtration to keep up with their meaty diets. Feed them 1-2 times per day a diet of shrimp, krill, squid, clams, or other meaty saltwater foods.
