Chalice Plate Corals (Lithophyllon) also known as Plate Coral, Disc Coral, or Chalice Coral, are encrusting/plating corals with long that come in a varieance of colors. Coral color variations include reds, yellows, greens, oranges, and pinks and often lined with a bright color. Usual sizes range between 2 and 6 inches in diameter. Juvenile corals are often pre-attached to substrate or other corals and bear a separation scar as an adult. These corals are very easy to care for as they are hardy, require moderate lighting and waterflow, obtain nutrients through photosynthesis (though will take meaty food), and are best housed towards the bottom of the tank. Overall, a great coral for beginner and expert aquarists alike.
