The Yellow Wrasse is also known as the Golden Rainbowfish, Golden Wrasse, Yellow Coris, or Canary Wrasse. Its golden-yellow body with a black eyespot on the dorsal fin makes a great addition to any reef tank. The Yellow Wrasse is an unusual colored fish who will spend most of its early introduction hiding in the sand. It is widely known for its ability to eat fireworms, flatworms and, and pyramidillid snails. We suggest you to keep a thick sand arrangement in your aquarium, because on frightening it generally hides itself there and sleeps under stress. Due to presence of powerful jaws, the Yellow Wrasse can be fed with large chunks of meaty foods, such as krill, raw table shrimp, squid, clam and mussel. It is peaceful towards other fishes, and therefore makes a peaceful fish for a reef tank. The Yellow Wrasse undergoes an extraordinary color changes from juvenile to adult. Since the Yellow Wrasse is small, hardy and easy to care for, it is suitable for a marine aquarium and also for a beginner aquarist. It is advised to keep an eye over the Yellow Wrasse, because sometimes it is considered reef safe and sometimes it may not because it can be found nibbling on corals. It should be kept in an aquarium not less than 20 gallon, and should be decorated cleverly with live rocks and sand. The Yellow Wrasse thrives well in a temperature range of 72-78 degree Fahrenheit and pH of 8.1-8.3. It is easy to feed the Yellow Wrasse and it generally accepts any types of foods that include marine flake food, meaty food, and frozen food and chopped sea food. It is quite difficult to breed the Yellow Wrasse species in captivity. Generally, they are born females and then develop into males if there is a shortage of males.
