There are few fish that exhibit such a brightly colored body, especially in purple than the tilefish . These highly coveted tilefish fish have long cigar-shaped bodies with a continuous doral fin. The forked tails of the tilefish have dark red margins that accent their beautiful color. These fish can be kept in pairs, groups, or singly and prefer lots of rockwork and a sandy bottom. They are a great community fish, but need a secure closed aquarium top to keep them from jumping out. They should be kept in tanks greater than 90 gallons.

Can be shy at first and fantastic jumper. Cover tank well(I use modified window screen and feed more than once a day. I find less cover in acclimation tank is better, some will hide and not come out. Net and handle with care, IT WILL JUMP!!!
