The Eight Banded Butterfly is a small Butterflyfish and makes a good addition to a community fish tank. With its yellow or creamy colored body and black bands over it, the Eight Banded Butterflyfish makes a gorgeous addition to any tank. It features seven bands on each side and one more band along the nape. The Eight Banded Butterflyfish prefers to live in pairs and grows up to 5 inches in length, therefore needs a large aquarium of 75 gallons. It thrives well in a temperature range of 75-82 degrees Fahrenheit. The juveniles Eight Banded Butterflyfish is often seen in groups among branching corals such as Acropora corals. The Eight Banded Butterflyfish is not a good choice for a beginner aquarist and is considered difficult to keep and feed. It is said it often starves to death when in captivity. The Eight Banded Butterflyfish may nip over the corals as food and is considered unsafe to keep in reef tank.
