The Black Vent Damselfish (Dischistodus melanotus), also known as the "Black-Backed Damsel" can be found among shallow reefs and lagoons off the coast of Northern Australia. They have a white body with a brown dorsal section, yellow underbelly, and pink flecks near their gills. Adults are typically found as mated pairs protecting their territory, while juveniles frequently hide among rubble or coral, seeking shelter from predators. They reach a maximum length of 6 inches and should be fed a mixed diet of carnivorous food and seaweed. They should be kept in a tank of at least 50 gallons.
