The Tomato Clown, Amphiprion frenatus, also known as the Tomato Anemonefish, Bridled Clownfish, and Red Clownfish, has a rusty orange body with a single thick vertical band bisecting its body. Females are generally larger than males with different color patterns. They are best kept in tanks of at least 20 gallons with plenty of live rock hiding places. If possible, they can be kept successfully as a mated pair. The Tomato Clown will eat a varied omnivorous diet consisting of frozen meaty preparations and algae-based foods and should be fed 2-3 times per day. The Tomato Clown is peaceful and an excellent choice for a beginner aquarist. As it matures, the Tomato Clown becomes slightly more aggressive so it should not be housed with fragile fish. Overall, the Tomato Clown is one of the most popular clownfish species for its combination of beauty and reliability.
