The Swissguard Basslet is easy to care for and that makes it a good choice for a beginner aquarist, since they are generally peaceful, and can be housed with other peaceful species. Though the Swissguard Basslet is peaceful in nature, it may become territorial, so if keeping more than one, it is recommended to have them in a tank no less than 30 gallons. The Swissguard Basslet prefers a tank along with plenty of places to hide and swim, along with many live rocks that encourages the growth of algae on which it can feed in-between. The Swissguard Basslet should be fed a carnivorous diet that includes meaty foods such as marine fish, crustacean flesh, Mysis shrimp, and quality frozen meaty preparations. The Swissguard Basslet may not eat if intimidated or stressed by larger tank mates or by another Basslets in the tank, so make sure not to house it with predatory fishes. It is necessary to keep the Swissguard Basslet under a sealed tank, because it may jump out of the aquarium. It thrives well in a temperature range of 72-78??F and pH of 8.1-8.4.
