The Squieri Anthias, Rabaulichthys squirei, also known as the Rabaulichthys Squire and the Squired Anthias, is a recently-discovered species from Australia. It boasts an amazing orange/red body with red striping between its eyes and a tall sailfin dorsal fin. The Squieri Anthias, like most anthias species, is hermaphroditic. They are best kept in groups of one male and several females. If the dominant male dies, the next largest female will often assume leadership of the group. It grows to a maximum of three inches and should be housed in an aquarium of at least 70 gallons if kept individually and no less than 140 gallons if kept in a group. The Squieri Anthias is reef safe, and a peaceful species that should be housed with other similar peaceful species. They are best kept in tanks with plenty of live rock to provide hiding places and will thrive on a diet of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and other vitamin enriched meaty preparations. They will also thrive in temperatures in range of 74-82°F and a pH of 8.1-8.4.
