The Singapore Angel, Chaetodontoplus mesoleucus, is, unsurprisingly, native to the waters of southeast Asia off the coast of Singapore. It sometimes goes by the common name Vermiculated Angel. This elegant Angelfish species exhibits a distinctive vertical bar running through its eye, and a bicolor body that starts out with a triangular white patch behind the head fading into a larger black area with a yellow and gray tail fin.
This is one of the more tank-ready Angelfish species as it will acclimate quickly and is hardy. The Singapore Angel can be a beneficial tank member by helping keep algal growths down with algae being one of its main food sources. They might also nip on sessile inverts so be cautious with tank pairings.
The Singapore Angel is peaceful, reef safe, hardy, and thrive in large tanks with plenty of hiding places. They will eat a varied diet including krill, shrimp, squid, clams, quality flake foods, algae, and mussels. This Angel should not be paired with other Angelfish.
