The Black Saddleback Clownfish, Amphiprion polymnus, a color variation of the Saddleback Clownfish or Saddle Clown, features a deep black color where the orange of the clown usually is. Sometimes, the Saddleback Clown can exhibit territorial behavior with other clownfish, especially over control of an anemone - they are more often peaceful, however. They will feed on an omnivorous diet and will take most prepared aquarium foods. The Black Saddle Clown is best kept either as a solitary individual or in pairs in the home aquarium containing plent of live rock hiding places. Males and females can be successfully bred in captivity.
The Black Saddle Clown is a unique morph of the common Saddleback Clownfish and makes for a wonderful addition to any peaceful tank as they are hardy, easy to care for, peaceful, and reef safe.
