The Red Blood Snapper, Lutjanus malabaricus, also known as the Saddletail Snapper, Red Snapper, or Malabar Blood Snapper is a snapper species native to the Indian and Pacific Oceans. As an aquarium species, the Red Blood Snapper can be quite large and needs a large tank to provide it enough space to swim around, they also prefer ample amounts of live rock to hide in. The Red Blood Snapper can be aggressive towards small fish or small inverts so it is not advised housing it with them. The Red Blood Snapper will eat most carnivorous foods and should not be housed with members of its own species. The Red Blood Snapper is best kept in a fish and coral only aquarium with other fish of its same temperament and size.
