The Potter's Angelfish is commonly referred to as the Potter's Pygmy Angelfish. With its brilliant orange colored body along with pale to dark blue stripes over it, the Potter's Angelfish makes a beautiful addition to any tank. It grows up to 4 inches and needs to be kept in a tank not less than 50 gallons along with plenty of hiding spots and live rocks for grazing microalgae. They should only be kept in pairs of male and female, or two females, in a tank no less than 75 gallons.  The Potter's Angelfish may attack soft corals and other sessile invertebrates in the reef aquarium, that is why it is considered reef safe but with caution. It is hermaphroditic, difficult to breed, and there are no distinguishing characteristics to help differentiate males from females. The Potter's Angelfish is a hardy fish, and should be offered a variety of foods including Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysis or frozen shrimp, and other meaty items.  It is one of the more shy and secretive dwarf Angelfish and often has difficulty adapting to captivity and a captive diet.  The Potter's Angelfish is semi-aggressive and should not be housed with puffers, hawk fishes and predatory fishes. It thrives well in a temperature range of 72-78?? F and pH of 8.1-8.4.
