The Pink Urchin, Lytechinus variegatus, is a type of sea urchin with a bulbous central disc and many pointy projections stemming from that disc. It prefers a tank with sandy substrates and plenty of rock work. The Pink Urchin is found mostly in the Atlantic Ocean and are voracious algae eaters - if there is not enough algae in the tank, supplements of macroalgae may be necessary. They are a hard working and beneficial addition to any tank.
My new Atlantic pink urchin arrived on time this morning as usual. I have ordered from saltwaterfish.com 3 times now and all three times the order arrived on or before the scheduled delivery time. I drip acclimated for three and a half hours then gently placed him on my sand bed. Immediately it began to work cleaning my tank. I have been avidly observing it for the past 3 hours and it has not stopped working to get my tank clean... I have only had the urchin for a few hours and can already tell it is going to make a wonderful addition to my CUZ. Thanks again saltwaterfish.com!!!!
