The Pink Urchin, Lytechinus variegatus, is a type of sea urchin with a bulbous central disc and many pointy projections stemming from that disc. It prefers tanks with sandy substrates and rock work. The Pink Urchin is found mostly in the Atlantic Ocean and are voracious algae eaters - if there is not enough algae in the tank, supplements of macroalgae may be necessary. They are a hard working and beneficial addition to any tank - specifically ones with algae problems.
My new Atlantic pink urchin arrived on time this morning as usual. I have ordered from saltwaterfish.com 3 times now and all three times the order arrived on or before the scheduled delivery time. I drip acclimated for three and a half hours then gently placed him on my sand bed. Immediately it began to work cleaning my tank. I have been avidly observing it for the past 3 hours and it has not stopped working to get my tank clean... I have only had the urchin for a few hours and can already tell it is going to make a wonderful addition to my CUZ. Thanks again saltwaterfish.com!!!!
